Shinko Nashi (Pear)/新興梨

Japanese Food
Just wanted to share some photos of shinko nashi (pears).
Don’t confuse shinko nashi with niitaka nashi, which I previously talked about.

That being said, I must say that the two varieties are quite similar in appearance and size. Shinko nashi have thicker skin, and can keep for long (about a month or so).
Shinko nashi, cut in half.

It may be hard to tell from the photo, but shinko nashi have thicker skin.

So, what about the flavor? As for me, I like niitake nashi better because of their milder sweetness. But, I do hope you taste them both to tell the difference in flavor.
